A MAJOR gas network upgrade is underway.
Northern Gas Networks (NGN) is spending £17,000 upgrading metallic gas mains on Thinford Road, Coxhoe, near Durham, with new plastic pipes.
The gas distributor says the project will ensure the safe and reliable supply of gas to customers in the area for years to come.
The work, which started today (Monday, March 9), is expected to take two weeks to complete. Three-way traffic lights have been installed at the junction of Thinford Road and Cornforth Lane.
John Richardson, NGN’s customer operations area manager, said: “We have been working closely with Durham County Council to carefully plan these works and will be doing all we can to minimise any disruption caused."
For more information, call NGN on 08000-407-766. The line is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
