A DARLINGTON pub has won a silver star award in the national Loo of the Year Awards 2012.

The William Stead, in Crown Street, was recognised by inspectors for its decor and maintenance, cleanliness, accessibility, hand washing equipment and overall management.

Manager Krystal John Gillgallon said: “I am delighted with the award. Staff at the pub work hard to ensure the toilets are in first-class condition at all times and it is great that this has been recognised by the inspectors.”

YOGA GROUP: Darlington Yoga Group will present a morning of yoga with the theme Preparing for Winter , led by Lesley Wood from the Satyananda tradition, on Saturday, November 10, at 10am.

COFFEE MORNING: A coffee morning in aid of the Riding for the Disabled Association will be held in Summerhouse village hall, near Darlington, at 10am on Wednesday, November 14.

Entry is £2.50, with a number of stalls, a raffle, Christmas cards and home baking on offer.

HEALTH GROUP: A team of fitness professionals, coaches and beauty experts will host a free event to encourage the local community to get involved in a healthier, active lifestyle. Visitors to the event at First Step 2 Fitness, on Victoria Road, in Darlington can try nutrition tasters, take a body fat test and sample skincare products.
