PART of Darlington’s Carmel Road North will be temporarily closed next week to allow council workers to chop down a dead tree.

The temporary closure on Carmel Road North, between Coniscliffe Road and Abbey Road, from 9.30am and 3pm, on Monday, November 12, has been arranged to ensure the tree can be taken down and chopped up without risk to road users.

The road will be reopened to traffic as soon as the tree has been removed and debris taken away. Pedestrians will be able to use the stretch of road during the tree works.

Bus service number 20 will be diverted during the road closure, via Abbey Road and Elton Road, before continuing its route along Cleveland Terrace.
