WRITERS in Darlington are putting their pens to paper for a 24-hour charity challenge.
Author Michelle Birbeck will be trying to write 50,000 words in one day, with writing fans trying to match her total at Café Create, in Parkgate Chambers, Darlington.
The event, which starts at noon on Friday, (November 9) will raise money for the Bloodrun Emergency Voluntary Service, which provides transfusion support for the NHS.
The writing challenge, finishing at noon on Saturday, forms part of National Novel Writing Month, with people urged to write a 50,000 word story in 30 days.
Jo Land, owner of Café Create, said she hoped people would support the attempt.
She said: “We would like everyone to come along and show their support as we are writing.
“We’ll have dares and motivational challenges, and everyone is hoping to come away with sponsorship for the charity and as many words written as possible.”
