PUPILS from a Darlington school have joined elderly members of the community for a Remembrance service.
Education Village students gave readings and took part in a parade through the school grounds, led by Retired Major Bob Jones from the Royal British Legion, before wreaths were laid in memory of the fallen by head boy Wesley Chow and head girl Lauren Spruce.
The school invited a number of older people from the Growing Older Living in Darlington (Gold) organisation to take part in the event and also welcomed the Mayor of Darlington, Councillor Paul Baldwin.
Children from Beaumont Hill School, which caters for pupils with special needs, gave a singing and signing performance at the event, before year nine student Matthew Robinson played the Last Post on the clarinet.
Assistant head teacher Zoe Matthewman said: βIt was a wonderful event, everyone was very relaxed and happy and it went very well. The children were excellent throughout and we were pleased to welcome the members of Gold to take part in the service.β
