PUPILS from secondary schools throughout the borough are gearing up for the ‘Watt Bike’ Champions of Darlington.
The Watt Bike competition is designed to encourage cycling among secondary school pupils and will see six of Darlington’s secondary schools compete against each other for the title.
Each school has selected a team of 14 people, with a girl and boy from each year group along with four teachers.
Pupils will then take turns to cycle one kilometre, which should take between one minute 15 seconds and one minute 45 seconds.
Points will be awarded for the places they gain throughout the competition; the winners will be the team with the most points at the end.
The winning school will receive a trophy and medals will be awarded for first, second and third placed teams.
The competition will take place on November 27 at St Aidan’s CE Academy.
