CASSANDRA Parkin will be the next author to visit Darlington’s Crown Street Library as part of the Read Regional campaign.

She will be at the library on Tuesday, November 20, at 1.30pm to talk about her book New World Fairy Tales which won the 2011 Scott Prize for Short Stories.

Her visit follows on from a recent library session by North-East author Mari Hannah and continues the Read Regional campaign which encourages northern libraries to help promote new books by northern authors.

Originally from Hull, Ms Parkin studied at York University and now lives in Yorkshire with her husband, two children and cats.

Read Regional events at Darlington libraries are always popular so although the events are free, places should be booked in advance by calling 01325 349610.

Forthcoming Read Regional events in Darlington include a visit to Cockerton Library by authors Fiona Shaw and Alison Gangel in March next year.
