PLANS have been submitted to create a private travellers’ site in Darlington.
The proposals would see five hardstanding caravan pitches built on residential land at Lygon House, in Neasham Road, Hurworth Moor, with an equestrian area and amenity block.
The plans have been submitted by David Thomas, of Lygon House.
A report said: “Mr Thomas has five grown up children who travel and return home during the course of making a living.
“The caravans and residential paraphernalia associated with the use of the site would inevitably have some impact on the character and appearance of the surrounding countryside.
“However, the proposed development is hidden by Lygon House behind a brick wall, and will be separated from the existing building by a 1.8 metre wall.
“It will not result in an unacceptable negative impact on the countryside.”
