A SUNDAY market is looking for entertainers to perform at its first anniversary.

Darlington Sunday People’s Market, which was set up in August last year, is celebrating its first anniversary on Sunday, August 4 and is looking for entertainers and volunteers to take part in its celebrations.

Committee member Samantha Blackham said: “It is still a few months away, but we are looking for anyone who would like to perform, whether they are singing, dancing, or playing a musical instrument.

"It is our first birthday so we would like it to be amazing."

Anybody who is interested in taking part is asked to contact the committee on dspm.darlington@live.co.uk

The market was set up by a team of volunteers and takes place on the first Sunday of every month in Darlington town centre.

Louise Maddison, who owns U-Neek - an independent jewellery business in Darlington – said: “Darlington Sunday People’s Market has become a real high on the calendar.

“The organisers and other stall holders are a great bunch of people and it's a really good atmosphere.

“It's great to talk to likeminded, creative people who are trying to make a living through what they do, and exchange ideas and encourage each other.”

The next market will take place on Sunday, February 3 from 11am until 4pm.

Any businesses or traders who would like to book a stall are asked to contact Darlington Borough Council markets manager, Peter Wilson, at peter.wilson@darlington.gov.uk
