Janet Dowsett will give concerts of popular music on the Wurlitzer organ in the New Victoria Centre, High Street, Howden-le-Wear, County Durham, on November 17 and 18. The events are being organised by the North East Theatre Association. November 17’s concert starts at 7pm. November 18’s starts at 2.30pm. Doors open 30 minutes before the concert begins. CHRISTIANITY LECTURE: Professor Andrew Louth will give a public lecture on calendars and feasts in Orthodox Christianity in room 140 of Durham University’s Elvet Riverside building, on New Elvet, Durham, tomorrow (November 7) at 6.15pm. BUSINESS AWARD: Freya McIvor, a 19-year-old Ancient History student at Durham University, has won the Sole Trader Award at Blueprint 2012, the North East Universities Business Planning Competition. Ms McIvor’s idea was to create an online shop for personalised sportswear, aimed at school and university sports teams and societies.
