POLICE are appealing for information after a spate of day time house burglaries in the Derwentside area. There have been seven break-ins along the A694 corridor between Hamsterley and Burnopfield, including the villages of Low Westwood and Ebchester since August.
PC Karen Myers said: “All of the burglaries have taken place during daylight hours with entry being forced to houses while the homeowner has been out.
“Similar items have been stolen at each including cash, jewellery and small electrical goods.
“Generally though, the burglary rate for Consett and Stanley is low and decreasing.”
Anyone who witnesses any suspicious activity is urged to contact Durham Constabulary on the non-emergency number 101.
