Consett Salvation Army presents its Christmas Celebration at the town’s Empire Theatre on Saturday, December 1 at 7pm. The concert will feature the choirs from both Consett and The Grove primary schools, Consett Salvation Army Band and Songsters as well as the nativity story portrayed in music. Part of the proceeds from the evening will be donated to the cancer unit at Hexham Hospital.

PUPPET SHOW: The Lamplight Arts Centre, in Stanley, will host a stage production of The Elves and The Shoemaker, by Theatre Hullabaloo on Wednesday, November 28 at 1.30pm. Tickets for the show, which includes lives music and puppetry, are £5.

RAMBLE ON: Durham Ramblers have organised two walks, of nine miles and 12 miles, to take place around the Aysgarth area of North Yorkshire on Sunday, November 18. AUSTRALIA TRIP: The Osborne Club, in Chester le Street, is holding a charity bingo night in aid of the Bullion Lane Primary School Australian Trip 2013 Fund. The event takes place at 7pm on Thursday, November 15 and admission is 20p.

CHARITY NIGHT: Consett Freemasons Arms FC has organised a charity music night, to take place at Delves Lane Community Bar on Friday, December 7 at 7.30pm. Artists include Trevor Moss and Hannah Lou plus guests. Tickets are £7 and under 18s are welcome if accompanied by adult. Proceeds will go to Willow Burn Hospice, in Lanchester. CHRISTMAS FAIR: A Christmas Fair is to take place on Sunday, November 18 in the St Stephen’s Centre, in Holly Hill Gardens East, South Stanley. The event takes place at 2pm and will feature gift stalls, hampers, hot and cold food as well as a visit from Santa Claus. Admission is 20p.
