A SUPPORT group’s annual Christmas lunch has raised £160 for the branch’s funds.

Nearly 70 members of the Durham and District branch of the Multiple Sclerosis (MS) Society enjoyed a three-course lunch at the Newton Grange pub, in Newton Hall, Durham.

A raffle staged afterwards by Joan Brown raised £160 for the branch funds.

Chairman Alistair Crisp said the large turnout for the meal reflected growing interest across north Durham in what the group can do to support people living with MS, an incurable, progressive, neurological illness.

Members also gave their support to the branch continuing to campaign for a specialist MS nurse to be based at the University Hospital of North Durham, in Durham City.
