WOMAN INJURED: A 33-year-old woman suffered a small puncture wound to her chest during an incident at a house on Amherst Road, Fawden, Newcastle, early on New Year’s Day. Police were called at about 1.15am. The woman was treated at Newcastle’s Royal Victoria Infirmary before being released. Northumbria Police are investigating the incident.

ROBBERY ARREST: A 31-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of robbery following an armed robbery of a Ladbrokes betting shop on Front Street, Seaton Burn, North Tyneside, on Saturday, December 29. Northumbria Police enquiries are continuing.

KNIFEPOINT BURGLARY: A man was threatened with a knife during a burglary at his home. A crook forced his way into the house, on White Mere Gardens, in Gateshead, late on New Year’s Eve. He threatened the resident with a knife before running off. Police believe nothing was stolen. A 39-year-old man was arrested nearby on suspicion of aggravated burglary. Enquiries are ongoing.
