CHARITY CEILIDH: Elvet Methodist Church, in Durham, has organised a ceilidh to be held at Bowburn Community Centre, Durham Road, Bowburn, on Friday, January 11, from 7pm to 11pm. NO PARKING: Durham County Council has refused the Roman Catholic Diocese of Hexham and Newcastle permission to demolish a caretaker’s cottage at St Leonard’s Catholic School, North End, Durham, to create 11 parking spaces. The decision was taken by planning officials.
