DURHAM Ramblers are inviting people to see off some festive calories with a 7.5-mile walk around Summerhouse, Gainford and Piercebridge, near Darlington, on Sunday (January 13). PHILIP NIXON: Photographer, lecturer and author Philip Nixon will start a series of new photography classes next week (January 14-17). There will be weekly sessions for ten weeks, with courses held on Mondays for beginners and Tuesdays and Thursdays for more advanced enthusiasts. All sessions run from 7pm to 9pm. The cost is £45 per person. Classes will be held in the community room at Durham Gilesgate Sports College, on Bradford Crescent, Durham.
