Northallerton Silver Band has raised more than £1,176 over Christmas with a series of outdoor concerts at supermarkets and shops across the town.

The money is to help towards ongoing costs and with a new euphonium which will be around £6,500.

But over the year the band has also helped other charities including the Bubble Foundation to raise funds for sick children and for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance.

Spokesman Pam Pratt said: "We just wanted to thank people for all their generous donations over the year and particularly over Christmas when we have been holding impromptu concerts around the town, so many people have put money in our buckets.”

The Silver Band's next concert is in the Town Hall on Friday, February 22, when members will be giving a concert for the Mayor's Charity.

The Annual Old Time Dance will be held in Hambleton Forum on Wednesday, February 20 with Piano Accordianist Dennis Westmorland. Tickets will be available from Greensleeves next week.
