GRAVE WORK: Tons of soil are to be put into an old part churchyard to stabilise gravestones. Helmsley town councillors were told the ground around some of the memorials in the old part of All Saiunts’ churchyard was collapsing - which could result in some gravestones toppling over. And experts who surveyed the area said that putting top soil into the area would resolve the situation. Councillor chairman Martin Vander Weyer said putting in the soil would enable areas of the churchyard to be restored and the council agreed to seek quotations for the work from contractors
