Shoppers invited to take part in community Christmas singalong

THE public has been invited to take part in a community Christmas singalong taking place this weekend.

The event will be held outside Tesco in Catterick Garrison from 5pm on Saturday, December 21.

Organiser Sarah Sixsmith said the singalong was inspired by her love of music.

She added: “I believe music can lift a person's spirit. For some, Christmas can be a difficult time for a variety of reasons.

“The singalong is a way in which the community can unite, forget any troubles and engage in something positive.

“What started as an idea, has turned into an event that reflects the good will within our community at this time of year.”

Proceeds from the event will be donated to Catterick Sports Association and The Beacon Charity.

The singalong has the support of local businesses. Greggs has donated mince pies and the Elior cafe in Tesco is providing hot chocolate to the singers.

Tesco is providing the electricity and displaying banners which were donated by Eyecatching Signs.

Local DJ Danny Plumb is running the music system and The Saddle Club is printing song sheets for singers.

Catterick Sports Association has arranged for Santa to visit on his musical sleigh and drive around the car park with The Teesdale Lions providing a reindeer sleigh for children to sit on.
