Two new breweries in Malton are to stage a beer celebration in the town to highlight the best of British brewing. Bad Seed Brewery and Brass Castle Brewery will host Beertown at the Milton Rooms on March 21 and 22, with 25 craft beers from around the country.

Final chapter: The family-run Barbican Bookshop in Fossgate, York, has closed after 53 years. Manager Andy Bingham said that, despite staff working tirelessly to adapt to a changing trading environment, the financial realities of the economic climate had caught up with them.
