A SCHOOL football team is celebrating after reaching the North Yorkshire finals.
The boys team from Richmond Church of England Primary won the Swaledale Football League, meaning they progressed to the county finals held at York City Sports Village.
Out of 11 teams, Richmond finished second only losing in the final 2-1 to Robert Wilkinson Primary, in York.
Teacher and coach Iain McCulloch said: “A great team spirit and effort from the boys saw them see off some tough opposition in the group stages, winning their group to qualify for the final.
“The lads showed great determination and grit in the final - we were very proud of them all.”
The team was supported by parents who had travelled with the boys on a coach provided by the school.
