POLICE have turned to the public for help in tracking down thieves who targeted a village cricket club.
Raiders broke into the club at Alne, near Easingwold, through a window and then fled from the scene with a small safe.
The break-in happened overnight between 11.30pm on April 11 and 9am the following day and police are appealing to anyone who saw any suspicious vehicles or activity on the night to contact them.
They also want anyone who finds a discarded safe in the area to contact them as soon as possible.
Call North Yorkshire Police on 101, select option two and ask for PC Simon Davis or, to remain anonymous, contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
