FORMER librarian Jodi Taylor was back among the bookshelves this week – but this time with a novel of her very own.

The 61-year-old returned to Northallerton library – where she worked for 20 years – to sign copies of her debut novel Just One Damned Thing After Another.

And former colleagues were among the fans who turned up to get their own autographed copy of the historical comedy-adventure.

Jodi, who has moved to Gloucestershire since her retirement, hit the headlines when she signed a five-book deal with publishers Accent Press after her novel proved to be a hit as a self-published e-book.

Just One Damned Thing After Another is the first in a series about the adventures of the disastrous time-travelling historians of St Mary's Institute of Historical Research as they bounce around the past, looking to find the answers to many of history's unanswered questions.

The service development officer at Northallerton library, Laura Dinning, said: “It was an absolute pleasure to host Jodi’s author event.

“I look forward to reading the rest of the books in this gripping and imaginative series, and have no doubt that we will be hearing a lot more about Jodi and the chronicles of St Mary’s in the future.”
