BEDALE's second annual music festival has been hailed a big success, with hundreds of visitors flocking to the town.

More than 60 musicians and bands from all over the country descended for the weekend event. Spokesman John Knighton said: “ We were once again blessed with great weather. Our main festival marquee at Big Sheep Little Cow Farm was superb and was packed out on all three evening concerts.

"Business and pubs across Bedale reported a roaring trade as hundreds of people came from all over for the festival which was sponsored by T & R Theakston of Masham.”

Music was on offer across the town along with street performers and a festival craft fair with children's activities.

The organisers had hoped to put a boat on to Bedale harbour for the first time since it was built more than 200 years ago but had to abandon the scheme, although an Honorary Harbour Master was appointed. Organisers said an army of volunteers helped to make the festival such a success.
