GUNS will be in action this weekend – but for the best possible cause.

The annual Sandwath Clay Pigeon Shoot at Sandwath House, Forcett near Richmond, takes place on Sunday, June 8, to raise money for the British Heart Foundation .

The event has been organised by Vicky and Nick Johnson, and involves teams of three competing for trophies and other prizes.

“We’re delighted to be working with the British Heart Foundation this year,” said Mrs Johnson.

“We hope to raise as much money as possible to help the fight again the UK’s single biggest killer, coronary heart disease, and to support the charity’s work in Yorkshire.”

Local BHF chair Maureen Gibbons said: “ Everything we do at the BHF is intended to make a tangible difference to people's lives. Whether we're providing care and support to patients or researching potentially life-saving treatments, we never forget how many people are counting on us to succeed.

“Support from families like the Johnsons make a big difference in raising the vital funds needed to help us continue with our life-saving work.”
