A TEN-year-old boy has completed a 22-mile walk to raise money and awareness for the Motor Neurone Disease Association (MNDA).
Will Burwell, from Richmond, completed the challenge in honour of his father's best friend, Paul Hopkins, a former RAF pilot who is battling the illness.
The Barnard Castle School pupil carried all his own kit as he walked for 11 hours over two days, covering 14 miles on the first day with a further eight miles the next.
Accompanied by his parents, Chris and Lynne and the family’s dogs, the route took Will along the Viking Way from the Humber Bridge to Caistor in Lincolnshire.
Will has so far raised more than £500 for the charity and is determined to raise more. He has already entered the gruelling Para' 2 for kids race to be held in Catterick Garrison on August 31.
Will said: “The walk was really hard work but people were nice and I wanted to do something special for Paul.
"I feel really good about finishing the walk and raising lots of money for the MNDA because they’re helping Paul and other people with motor neurone disease and lots of people don’t know much about it."

MND kills five people in the UK every day, half of them within 14 months of diagnosis.
The Paul Hopkins MNDA Fightback Fund is raising funds for the MNDA.
So far, it has raised more than £6,000 through activities including an Alps trek and a Danish cycle challenge.
