A COLLABORATIVE concert between a Dales brass band and vocal harmony group has raised £555 for Cancer Research UK.

On Saturday, December 13, Brass and Pearls – made up of Reeth Brass Band and Five Pearls and a Piano – raised the roof of the Buck hotel in Reeth with Boogie Woogie and Festive Fun Show - a mix of songs from the 1940s and 1950s to modern hits.

Cancer Research UK was the chosen charity as members of both groups have lost close family members and friends to cancer in the last year.

The concert also marked the anniversary of the death of Bob Gale, cornet player in Reeth band and local district councillor, who lost his battle with cancer in 2013.

Both groups agreed it was fitting to raise money for the charity and were overwhelmed with the support and generosity of the audience.
