ACCLAIMED singer-songwriter Steve Tilston is to perform the first live concert in the run up to Bedale Acoustic Music Festival.

The concert will be held at Aiskew Watermill, Bedale, on Sunday, February 1 starting at 2pm, with support from award-winning singer Niamh Boadle.

The BAMlive series of concerts were started by the organisers of Bedale Acoustic Music Festival to show that the festival is not just a once a year event.

Organiser John Knighton said: “ We wanted to bring top quality music to Bedale throughout the year – and that’s how BAMlive came about.”

Former live concerts have included Henry Priestman, Phil Beer, Reg Meuross, and Rod Clements as well proving a support platform for local musicians.

Mr Knighton said: “We are delighted that Steve Tilston is coming to Bedale. He has performed all around the world and we are very lucky to see him. He has won the Radio Two Folk Awards for best original song and appeared at countless concerts and festivals throughout his career.

“Last year we experimented with an afternoon concert which proved very popular so we are doing another one. There will be a licensed bar and tea and coffee and cakes available for what we reckon will be a special intimate concert.”

Tickets are available from the BAMfest website, www.bamfest.co.uk , or call 07925-817116.
