DETECTIVES are hunting a man over a fight in a town centre he had previously been banned from entering.

North Yorkshire Police said Thomas Boyne was wanted in connection with an affray in Thirsk Market Place on January 18 and another incident of criminal damage three days later.

Officers have been making extensive enquiries in an effort to locate Boyne, including checking addresses of his friends and appealed to residents to report sightings of him

The force has released a photograph of the 23-year-old, which they also did in 2013 after a drive to track him down proved fruitless.

Boyne, who has links to Ripon, Northallerton, Huddersfield and Sheffield, was ordered not to

In 2013, Thirsk publicans banned him from entering a number of pubs, and in 2011, he was handed an anti-social behaviour order barring him from the town's Market Place between 7pm and 7am for two years.

At the time, Harrogate Magistrates heard how it had needed four police officers and Parva spray to subdue Boyne as they tried to arrest him at the Black Bull, in Ripon, after failing to turn up to Northallerton Magistrates Court.

Boyne is described as white, around 6ft tall, of medium build, with blue eyes and a shaved head.
