ATTENDANCES at a community-run arts venue in Northallerton are continuing to grow.

Latest audience figures show the Forum is a box-office winner with its blend of theatre shows, film releases and local variety productions.

Ticket sales for its programme during 2014 broke records – and the launch of satellite screenings from the National Theatre was rewarded with sell-out audiences for Warhorse and packed houses for other showcase events.

Box office takings topped £100,000 for the first time, with cinema admissions growing to more than 6,000 and 3,500 visiting the Forum for theatre events.

Manager Dan Brookes said: “We’ve got something for everyone.

“We’re attracting new audiences all the time, with David Hockney’s Live from LA show warmly received and English National Opera’s complete spring season on the way.

“Also popular are our regular comedy shows and we’ve been fortunate to attract some of the country’s top comics to the Forum.”

He added: “The Forum is not just on the map as a premier entertainment venue, it’s also the centre for a huge range of club activities.”

A registered charity, the Forum has been under community management since 2012.
