POLICE have turned to the public for help after an early morning raid on a jewellers’ shop.

The burglary happened at Snowden's Jewellery Workshop on Long Street in Easingwold at 3am this morning (February 18).

A man managed to smash the front window of the shop and took items of jewellery from the display.

“We are conducting enquiries and are requesting the public's assistance to help determine the full circumstances surrounding the incident,” said a police spokesman.

“In particular, we are appealing for information about two men who were seen looking through the window prior to the incident.”

The first man was described as in his mid-20s, of average height and build, and wearing a gilet with a florescent stripe on the front and back.

The second man was similar in description and was wearing a camouflage-style baseball cap facing to the rear.
