DOG owners are being urged to support a charity event in aid of a North Yorkshire-based hospice.

Herriot Hospice Homecare is holding a sponsored dog walk on the Camp Hill Estate at Kirklington, near Bedale, on Easter Monday, April 6.

The Paws in the Park event will involve dog walkers taking their pets around a 5km route, or 2km for those who prefer a shorter route.

The first 50 dogs to pre-register will receive a free neckerchief provided by Mile House Vets and doggy goody bag provided by WM McIvor and Son. The Blue Cross will also be attending the event and are offering a free micro-chipping service.

The charity’s events fundraiser Leanne Hodgson said: “Last year 50 people and their dogs took part in the event, but we are hoping to attract even more this year.

“It’s lots of fun and by taking part people, and their dogs, will be making a significant contribution to the work of Herriot Hospice Homecare.”

Entry for Paws in the Park is £5 and all proceeds will go towards supporting the work of Herriot Hospice Homecare, which provides nursing care, free of charge, to terminally-ill patients who wish to remain at home within Hambleton and Richmondshire.
