A TOWN centre cafe is hoping to target the evening trade with a new bar and restaurant.

Penleys was launched in Richmond Market Place last year by business partners Matthew Colley and Amanda Penrose - eight years after they opened Penleys of Leyburn.

Like the Leyburn business, Penleys of Richmond has started serving drinks and meals in the evening.

Miss Penrose said: "Penleys of Richmond has been building up its reputation as a cafe for the past year.

"We're now opening in the evening as well and hope this too will be a success.

"The idea is to have the bar area downstairs and the restaurant upstairs - we hope to offer something different to what's already available in the town and we're really excited about the expansion."

The new restaurant and bar, which is being managed by Mr Colley and partner Sophie Davison, will be officially opened by the mayor of Richmond, Councillor Clive World, on Friday, March 27.

Everyone is welcome to attend the event with Prosecco and canapes served on arrival.
