AN ETHICAL coffee roasting business from North Yorkshire has partnered up with a well-known nearby delicatessen, to create a coffee fit for the county.

David Beattie’s journey with his coffee roastery, Rounton Coffee, based at East Rounton, near Stokesley has taken him all around the world. But now he has joined with Lewis & Cooper to create a unique blend for the business’s Northallerton and Yarm stores.

There are plans in the future to introduce some speciality single origin coffees from Ethiopia and Columbia, as well as chemical-free decaffeinated coffee.

Rounton Coffee was established in 2014 shortly after owner Mr Beattie had returned from spending time with a coffee farmers’ cooperative in Sumatra, Indonesia and was inspired to help the farmers receive a fair deal.

He runs the business with his partner Tracey Lee in a converted former granary.

Fabrice Marcotullio, food hall manager at Lewis & Cooper, said: “We’re pleased that, although we supply food from all around the world in our stores, we can work with a new business just a few miles away which can provide such a high-quality product.

“Being a Yorkshire business we want to source things from Yorkshire.”
