BUSINESSES across the Yorkshire Dales are lending their support to a new campaign designed to help visitors explore and enjoy the area.

A summer-long treasure hunt has been organised by voluntary organisation the Dales Tourism Network in association with the National Park.

More than 50 visitor attractions, accommodation providers, restaurants and tourism-related businesses across the Dales are backing the campaign through sponsorship and donations of prizes.

Four postcard designs with four different sets of clues are available free of charge from visitor information centres, tourism businesses, shops, pubs and cafés throughout the Dales.

And visitors are invited to enter their answers online at dalesdiscoveries.com before September 10 for the chance to win prizes which include fine-dining experiences, short breaks, skills days and attraction tickets.

The network’s director, Susan Briggs, said: “The treasure hunt is aimed at opening people’s eyes to the fantastic variety of places in the Dales where they can simply leave behind their normal hectic lives, recharge, have fun, and get in touch with their inner child.

“Dales folk are already experts at enjoying life and we’ve drawn upon their insider knowledge to compile the clues.

“We’ve been overwhelmed by the generosity and support of the businesses across the region and they have really come up trumps with some great prizes that underline the spirit of the campaign.
