CHARITY fundraisers are to tackle a 250-mile cycle challenge from London to Paris in aid of a breast cancer care unit.
Workers from Wilsonart, in Shildon, hope to complete the cross channel challenge within three days.
The team of 16 cyclists, who will start from the London Eye tomorrow (Friday) and finish at Eiffel Tower, are collecting for the breast cancer care unit run by North Tees and Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust.
It is a cause close to the heart of several staff members whose families have been affected by cancer.
Tim Pearson, Wilsonart managing director, said: “We felt that this was a good cause to support and we felt that the ride would motivate and challenge people.
“We feel that it will be a mental and physical challenge. The second day will be the hardest as we will have had little sleep.
“We have riders of all abilities taking part and we have been out for practise rides.”
The cyclists, who have to reach a ferry at 4pm tomorrow, (Friday) aim to raise £7,000 and so far £5,795 has been pledged to the cause.
This is the third sponsored bike ride staff at Wilsonart, on the Lambton Street Industrial Estate, have taken part in.
They have also fundraised for Durham Trinity School and Sports College and Cancer Research UK.
