A CHILDREN’S football team is sporting a new kit after scoring a sponsorship deal.

Co-operative Funeral Care has provided new strips for Newton Aycliffe Junior Football Club’s under-14s, who train at Sunnydale Leisure Centre in Shildon.

Jenette Sisson, Co-operative Funeral Care divisional manager, said the company was happy to help, adding: “We have supported quite a few football teams for children and adults in the past.

“Clubs like Newton Aycliffe are great because they promote healthy living by getting children outdoors and active.”

Tina Greaves, club grants and sponsorship officer, said: “It can be hard getting sponsorship for the older teams, which is why we are so grateful to Jenette and Co-operative Funeral Care.

“Having a smart new kit makes the children feel they are part of something special and gives them extra confidence when they play in a match, at home and an away.

“Our club offers more than just sporting opportunities, it develops social skills too. The children make friends for life here.”
