A CHARITY rock concert will be cancelled if ticket sales do not pick up.

Diamond Head, a band credited with influencing Metallica and Megadeth, will headline Blitzallica Festival at Shildon Civic Hall on Saturday, October 25.

The eight-hour live music extravaganza will feature five other bands, including Old Corpse Road, from Darlington, and Holosade, of Bishop Auckland.

A collection will also take place for the Great North Air Ambulance.

However, poor ticket sales could force the organisers to cancel the event.

Promoter Paul Evans said: “We have set ourselves a deadline of Monday. If more tickets aren’t sold by then we will have no choice but to cancel it as we won’t be able to pay the bands.

“It would be such a shame as we have some fantastic acts lined up.”

Advance tickets cost £20 and are available from Shildon Civic Hall on 01388-772902.

The audience is invited to don heavy metal costumes for the festival which will open at 4pm with the Randy Mandy Rock Disco.
