JUNIOR footballers have been kitted out in new strips after their team scored a shirt sponsorship deal.

Youngsters at West Auckland Football Club’s Under 14 team are now sporting smart yellow shirts, thanks to a donation from ASL PowerStream, a Teesside-based high pressure cleaning and cutting company.

The strip is similar to the one worn by West Auckland Town Amateur Football Club and means the youngsters no longer have to play in ill-fitting sportswear.

Team secretary Alison Hodgson said: “This sponsorship deal means so much to us and we are very grateful to ASL PowerStream.

“We have had the same strip for quite a few years and obviously the children are getting bigger. Last year, some of them were almost bursting out of them.”

Peter Johnson, managing director of ASL PowerStream, who lives in West Auckland, said: “I think it is important for businesses to support communities.

“Clubs like this gets kids off the streets and away from the computers. They offer them a chance to be active and have fun in a safe environment.

New players, aged 11 to 13, are always welcome. Contact, Mrs Hodgson on 07899-695590
