PLANS have been submitted for dozens of new homes near Crook.

APEX Architectural Planning has applied for planning permission to build up to 58 houses on land east of High Grange.

The applicant’s proposal includes a mix of two, three, four and five bedroom houses, two storey houses and bungalows.

Two letters of objection from residents living at High Grange have been submitted to Durham County Council.

Residents have until November 20 to comment on the planning application.

In a statement the applicant said: “It is clear that whilst the development will result in the loss of some direct views over the site from nearby properties to the North West, it will fit comfortably within the landscape and will not have an adverse impact upon the character of the surrounding area.

“It has been concluded that the proposal is acceptable in principle and will not have any significant adverse impacts upon the surrounding area in terms of visual, landscape, traffic and parking and other amenity or environmental considerations.

“It has also been shown that any impacts arising from the development would not be significant and would be outweighed by the benefits arising from the construction of the new homes.”
