GOGGLEBOX celebrity Scarlett Moffatt opened a new beauty salon in her home town of Bishop Auckland today (Sunday).

The reality TV star cut the ribbon of Truly Scrumptious Hair and Beauty, on Princes Street, where dozens of people gathered for the launch event.

She joined friends and family for the event which included a champagne reception, popcorn and nachos for guests while they toured the newly renovated premises.

“There’s nothing like this in Bishop so this is what we need,” she said.

“Normally, I have to go all the way to Newcastle to get my nails done so this is great.”

The salon is owned by sisters Kerstie Potter and Tammie Hole and is their first business venture.

Qualified hairdresser, Mrs Potter, 26, said: “It’s exciting and nerve-wracking at the same time.

“It’s been my dream from the beginning. Before I was 16 I knew I wanted to be a hairdresser."

Newly qualified beautician, Mrs Hole, 25, added: “We have said for years we wanted to do it but have never got round to it.”

Their mother, Adele Aldworth, said she was really pleased for her daughters and had even quit her job at Asda so she could look after grandchildren, Summer-Rose, Frankie and Heidi.

Joined by two staff, the sisters will be offering hair and beauty services including nails and waxing and also have a dedicated princess room for children’s parties and pamper packages.

They will officially open on Tuesday, November 11, at 10am.
