A SCOUT group is celebrating after a receiving funding to pay for a new laptop to record their activities and achievements.

County councillor Charlie Kay donated £500 from his members’ initiative fund to pay for the new technology for the 1st Leeholme and Coundon Scout group.

The money has been used to purchase a new laptop, printer and accessories to enable cubs, scouts and leaders to plan and organise events and research projects.

The equipment will also allow them to keep accurate records of what the youngsters are achieving.

The group recently put on its Christmas performance at Victoria Lane Academy, in Coundon, and during the evening they showcased what the new laptop has to offer and how it will benefit them in the future.

Cllr Kay, who was a member of the scout group when he was a child, said: “I know they want to take pictures and write about their experiences on the internet.

“The group is going really well and hopefully this will attract even more members.

“I am really pleased to be able to help.”
