THE young daughters of a man killed in a car accident on Sunday say they can’t believe he is gone.

Darren Edwards, a father-of-three, was killed when his car left the road hit a wall in Willington at about 1am on Sunday (January 18).

The 35-year-old leaves behind his three daughters, Chloe, 15, Paige, eight, and four-year-old Freya, along with his fiancée Tanya who he proposed to at Christmas.

Mr Edwards' daughters’ said: “We are going to miss our daddy so much.

"He was so much fun and he used to make us laugh all the time when we were playing games together. We can’t believe he has gone.”

His fiancée Tanya Palliser added: “Words cannot express how much I am going to miss my fiancé.

“Darren is my forever soul mate and the best part of my life has been spent with him and his three girls.

“I am heartbroken this has happened when we have been busy planning our wedding and looking forward to the future. I love him all the word and more, forever.”

Mr Edwards, of Prospect Terrace, Willington, near Crook, was the only person in his silver Citroen C2 at the time of the accident. He suffered fatal injuries as a result of the collision.

The car was travelling on the A690 from Crook when it left the road on a right hand bend, colliding with a brick wall adjacent to Cochrane Terrace.

The road was closed for around six hours while collision unit investigators carried out an examination of the scene.

Mr Edwards' family also paid tribute to him adding: “We are completely devastated to have lost our kind, funny and loving Darren.

“He adored his three daughters and the thought of them growing up without him is so very hard for us to comprehend.”

Police have renewed their appeal for anyone who witnessed the collision or saw Mr Edwards' Citroen C2 prior to the crash to get in touch, by calling 101.
