A COMMUNITY arts group has unveiled its spring activity programme for Crook.

Jack Drum Arts is holding all the events in the town’s St Cuthbert’s Centre, in Church Hill.

Feeling Rhythm with the Ladies of Midnight Blues offers a chance to join professional musicians Hannabiell and Yilis (CORR) for three days of music, rhythm and fun during half term.

All work created will be presented at the Sounds Around the World free showcase event on Saturday, March 21, from 2pm.

The free event will celebrate the groups youth music programme from Runaway Samba, Midnight Blue, Jackass Youth Theatre, St John's Steel Pan Band and the new Morris Side.

Runaway Samba is held on Thursdays, from 5.30pm to 7.30pm, when under-tens must be accompanied by an adult.

It is described as fast-paced, high-energy, foot-stomping musical fun that brings the flavour of Mardi Gras to performance and procession.

Folk dancing takes place during term times on Wednesdays, from 5.30pm-7.30pm, and again, under-tens must be accompanied.

The Jackass Youth Theatre takes place during term time on Mondays, from 6.30pm to 8.30pm, for over-12s. The cost is £3 and it includes theatre, music, film, dance, arts and design. It gives youngsters the opportunity to perform throughout the UK.

In addition, The Cree (CORR) project is on Tuesdays, from 5pm to 8pm, and offers a place for youngsters to take part in a variety of activities.

These sessions include guest artists and musicians, break and street dancing, graffiti art, circus skills and acrobatics.
