PUPILS and teachers dressed as their favourite fictional characters for World Book Day.

Youngsters at St Andrew’s Primary School, in Bishop Auckland, joined staff in fancy dress and swapped books which they no longer wanted with classmates.

Competitions and reading activities took place during the day at the school on St Andrew’s Road

Then the staff and youngsters returned at 5pm for a special bedtime story telling.

Headteacher Andrea Norman said: “It was a wonderful evening.”
