A FOUNDING member of an out-of-school club which launched nearly 20 years ago has returned to support an appeal for a much needed new building.

Jordan Stockdale, 24, was one of the first children to attend Sedgefield Out of School Fun Club after it opened in 1995.

The club, based in a portable cabin in the grounds of Sedgefield Primary School, needs to raise £50,000 towards a new building, having already secured £65,000.

Determined to help, hair stylist Miss Stockdale and her employer, Saks in Barnard Castle, have donated a cut and colour makeover worth more than £100 to a raffle, which will be drawn at 20th anniversary party on Friday, April 10.

Miss Stockdale said: “It’s a cause very close to my heart, not only because my brother and I both used the club when we were younger, but also because my cousin goes there now and he often tells me about the problems they are having in their current building.”

Sue Bell, manager of fun club, thanked Saks and other businesses which have donated raffle prizes, adding: “If anyone would like to offer a prize we would be delighted to hear from them.”
