RESIDENTS are being warned to ensure that sheds and out buildings are secured following a spate of break-ins across Shildon.
Various items including garden strimmers and tools have been stolen after locks and doors have been forced in garden sheds and on allotments.
There has been a number of bikes, including high value ones, stolen in Shildon from outbuildings in recent weeks.
Police have now issued a security warning to residents.
Sergeant Tim Kelly stressed that a review of security on outbuildings would be appropriate to deter thieves. Checks should be made to ensure that doors and windows are secured.
Anyone who can help with enquiries regarding the shed and garage break-ins should contact Shildon police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
