A COMMUNITY centre in Bishop Auckland is encouraging local jobseekers and young people to take advantage of free IT support sessions this month.

Auckland Youth and Community Centre (AYCC) will hold 30 minute one-to-one sessions throughout May to help jobseekers find work and those aged 16-25 to develop their computer skills and knowledge.

The centre, which last year celebrated its 50th anniversary, aims to provide children and young people living on the Woodhouse Close Estate, with opportunities that will enhance their development and widen their horizons.

John Wiseman, AYCC business development manager, said he is thankful to the volunteers who are helping support the community.

“We are really looking forward to welcoming people to our centre who wish to take up our offer of free help." He said.

“We are very grateful to our volunteers who are working really hard to provide this support to our community.

“Our pilot sessions went very well and people who accessed these sessions have told us how much the support has improved their IT skills and given them more confidence.”

To book a session, contact the centre on 01388-604575 or drop in to reception on Walker Drive, Woodhouse Close Estate.
