THOUSANDS of Army staff paid tribute to the fallen heroes of conflicts past and present on Armistice Day.
More than 2,000 recruits, Ministry of Defence civilians and contractors attended a service and parade at the Infantry Training Centre, Catterick Garrison.
Recruits laid wreaths, and the names of all British soldiers killed in action this year were read out.
Meanwhile, officers and soldiers from 4th Mechanized Brigade observed a twominute silence outside brigade headquarters at Catterick Garrison.
The Rev Benjamin Abeledo, senior brigade chaplain for 4 Mechs, said: “I want us to join in with the rest of the Armed Services on this day – both those based in the United Kingdom and abroad, as well as those who are on operations in Afghanistan. It is important for us to unite and remember together those that have paid the ultimate sacrifice.”
The Rev Norman McDowell led the service at the Infantry Training Centre.
