YOUNGSTERS who write to Santa Claus via the library can claim a limited edition Christmas card featuring The Snowman.
North Yorkshire County Council is placing a post box for letters to Santa in each of its libraries for the first two weeks of December.
Santa is to reply to all of the letters via a festive display in the library on Saturday, December 19.
Children will get a password on their reply which they can give to library staff when borrowing an item to claim the Christmas card.
The cards feature images from Raymond Briggs’s animated story The Snowman.
Last year, more than 3,500 children used the postal service and it is hoped even more will use it this year.
Councillor Chris Metcalfe, executive member for adult and community services said: "The Snowman is now very much part of a traditional Christmas, as is writing a letter to Santa.
"The postal service in libraries has been very successful over the past few years and we hope that even more people will use it this year with the added bonus of a limited edition Snowman library card."
